Why we built Ezus Pay, our own payment platform

Why we built Ezus Pay, our own payment platform

“An agency can spend three weeks building a trip and lose the booking at the moment of payment.” 💳

‍

That line from Charles Gombert, co-founder and CEO of Ezus, sums up why we launched Ezus Pay on 2 September 2026: a native payment platform, built for tailor-made travel.

‍

Here is the story behind that decision.

‍

The problem: payment, the last breaking point in the sale

‍

All the work is done: the itinerary is approved, the client has made up their mind. All that's left is to pay. And that is exactly where many sales fall through.

‍

  • 37% of travel booking abandonments are attributed to payment, according to the Ecommpay Travel Payments Benchmark 2026.
  • 59% of travellers give up when their preferred payment method is not available, according to a 2025 Nuvei / Edgar, Dunn & Company study.

‍

And in travel, payments are rarely simple: large amounts, a deposit, a balance before departure, sometimes extras during the stay. Emailing an IBAN, chasing a bank transfer, working out which file it belongs to: every manual step adds days to the cycle.

‍

What we built 🛠️

‍

We already had a payment link. Ezus Pay goes further: it ties payment collection to the travel file.

‍

Payment starts from the file

Payment links are generated from the file, for a deposit, a balance or a custom amount. Every payment received is automatically matched to its file: amount collected and balance due update, the traveller gets a confirmation, the agency is notified.

‍

A checkout that reflects your brand

The payment page uses the agency's logo and colours, in five languages, on desktop and mobile alike. It is built into the Client Space: the traveller confirms and pays without leaving it.

‍

Card or transfer, securely

Bank card and SEPA transfer, with 3D Secure authentication. Card data is processed by Stripe, which is PCI-DSS certified.

‍

Two levels of tracking

Per file (collected and outstanding) and across the whole portfolio (collected, upcoming, overdue). A failed card payment shows up straight away, without waiting for bank reconciliation.

‍

An open platform

Ezus Pay is integrated with Ezus, but designed as a platform in its own right: its checkout can be embedded on an external website, and a public API with webhooks lets you connect payment data to other tools.

‍

Our pricing choices

‍

We wanted Ezus Pay to be accessible to all our clients, with no complicated maths:

‍

  • No extra subscription, no activation fees, no premium plan.
  • Fees from 1.19% for European debit cards and 0.3% for SEPA transfers, plus a fixed €0.30 per transaction, and 2% for currency conversion.
  • Activation takes just a few minutes, and funds land in the agency's usual bank account.

‍

What's next

‍

Split payments between travellers, automatic direct debit of the balance and payment in instalments are planned, but not yet available. The legacy payment link remains usable during the transition.

‍

Payment is part of the trip

‍

A sale isn't finished until the client has paid. In building Ezus Pay, we wanted that final moment to be as smooth as everything that comes before it.
